Mionetto was founded in Valdobbiadene in 1887 by Francesco Mionetto. It is now part of Henkell Freixenet. Sergio Mionetto brought the Charmat method to the area after the Second World War.
This bottling comes from Valdobbiadene, the hillside Superiore zone of Prosecco, under the DOCG rather than the broader Prosecco DOC. It's 100% Glera, made by the Charmat method in temperature-controlled steel tanks, and bottled as a Brut at 11% alcohol.
It pours pale yellow with fine, persistent bubbles and aromas of flowers, apple and peach with a hint of citrus. Ripe apple and pear follow, with a fine, creamy perlage.
Against Viarae Prosecco DOC, Mionetto is a hillside Valdobbiadene DOCG and costs a little less; for a step up from everyday Prosecco, choose Mionetto.
Serve it well chilled, at about 43 to 46°F. Pour it as an aperitif or with fried appetizers and light seafood.
