Rustico is Nino Franco's oldest bottling, in the range since the 1970s and made the modern way, with its second fermentation in tank, since 1979. Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, Glera, non-vintage, 11% alcohol.

Antonio Franco opened the house in 1919, and his great-granddaughter Silvia has run it since 2006. The grapes come off the steep hills above Valdobbiadene, where the topsoil is thin and sits straight on limestone. That is where the cut in the wine comes from.

White flowers and Williams pear first, then apple, white peach and citrus. Fine beading, soft rather than sharp, dry on the finish. Wine Enthusiast 94 points, VinePair 94, Falstaff 93, Decanter 90.

This is the Prosecco to reach for when you would otherwise buy Champagne and would rather not spend it. Drier than supermarket Prosecco, and it does not need orange juice.

Serve it at 43 to 46°F. Fine on its own before dinner, better with something fried or a young cheese.

Shop more Prosecco, the rest of our Champagne and sparkling wine, or wines from Italy, with Brooklyn pickup and same-day delivery across NYC.

Wine Enthusiast

Wine Enthusiast says this sparkler "never disappoints": white spring blossom and white stone fruit on the nose, then pear, apple and white peach with a touch of fennel seed, over fine bubbles and fresh acidity. 94 points.

VinePair

VinePair calls it "a great Prosecco" with "great balance" - honey and fresh pear aromas, and bubbles that are gentle but long-lasting. Reviewer Keith Beavers picks it over other bottles on the shelf, for brunch, for sipping on its own, or as a bottle to bring a host. 94 points.

F93
Falstaff

Falstaff called it "highly appealing" at its 2021 Prosecco Trophy. Tasters Othmar Kiem and Simon Staffler found quince, pear, meadow herbs and white blossom, with a juicy palate, crisp acidity and a well-integrated mousse. 93 points.

Decanter

Decanter's James Button calls it "effortless stuff," tasted at SUMMA in April 2025: vital and fresh, with concentrated apple and lemon fruit, a slightly salty edge, and gentle but long-lasting bubbles that suit it to food. Drink 2025-2028. 90 points.
