This Prosecco comes from Ruffino, the historic Tuscan house best known for Chianti, which is now part of Constellation Brands. In the US it is imported by Ruffino Import Company of Rutherford, California.
It's a Prosecco DOC made from grapes grown in the Prosecco region of the Veneto. Glera is the main grape, with a small share of Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and other varieties. The wine is made by the Charmat method, with its second fermentation in pressurized tanks for about a month. It's an Extra Dry and 11% alcohol.
Ruffino describes a straw-yellow color, delicate wild strawberry and blackcurrant aromas with a hint of caramel, and a refreshing, fruity palate with a juicy, upbeat finish.
Against La Marca Prosecco DOC, Ruffino brings a fuller strawberry-and-caramel profile from a famous Tuscan name; for a gift bottle or a toast with friends, choose Ruffino.
Ruffino recommends serving it at 45 to 48°F. Pour it as an aperitivo with salty snacks or prosciutto and melon.
