Silverado's Estate Cabernet comes from two of its own Napa vineyards: 60% from Mt. George, a 19th-century site east of Napa, and 40% from the Silverado Vineyard where the winery stands.
Silverado Vineyards is now part of Foley Family Wines, and Alison Rodriguez makes the wine. The 2023 is 81% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. It macerated for about 20 days and spent 19 months in French oak, 40% of it new. 2023 was a cool year and harvest came about two weeks late. It's 14.9% alcohol.
The winery describes red and black cherry, blue fruit, vanilla, cedar and cola, then a full, round palate with mocha, graphite, dark plum and fine-grained tannins.
Above it in the range is Silverado's Limited Cabernet. For a Napa estate wine under $50, this is the one to buy; Sequoia Grove is a good alternative.
Decant it for an hour if you open it now. Roast beef or lamb suit it.
