Villa Sparina Gavi del Comune di Gavi 750ml

Villa Sparina is in Monterotondo, in Gavi, Piedmont. The Moccagatta family founded it in the 1970s, brothers Stefano and Massimo run it today, and Wine Enthusiast named it European Winery of the Year in 2021. The estate covers about 100 hectares, more than 70% planted to Cortese and Barbera.

This is Gavi del Comune di Gavi DOCG, often called Gavi di Gavi, from the commune of Gavi itself. It's 100% Cortese from vines averaging over 30 years old on clay-marl soils, fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel with a few months on fine lees and no oak. The amphora-shaped bottle is modelled on a Roman relic found on the estate.

Falstaff, tasting the 2025, found floral notes, light citrus, crisp pear and white flowers on a gentle, creamy palate.
