Argyle Vintage Brut Willamette Valley 2022 750ml

Argyle Winery is in Dundee, in Oregon's Willamette Valley. It was founded by Rollin Soles, and today the winemaker is Kate Payne Brown, with viticulturist Erica Miller.

Wine.com lists the 2022 Vintage Brut as 90% Pinot Noir, 6% Chardonnay and 4% Pinot Meunier. The blend changes by year: the 2018 was Chardonnay-led, so this vintage is Pinot-driven. Wine.com describes regenerative farming with cover crops and compost. Argyle doesn't publish the tirage time or dosage for this wine. It's 12.5% alcohol.

The winery describes pale copper-gold color, shortbread, sweet apple, strawberry-rhubarb pie and baking spice, with a vibrant palate, citrus zest and a "subtle saltiness." Wine Spectator, quoted by Wine.com, notes "easygoing flavors of apple, cherry blossoms and spiced cinnamon."

Against Roederer Estate Brut, Argyle is vintage-dated and Pinot Noir-led; for a single-year American sparkler, choose Argyle.

Serve it well chilled as an aperitif, or with oysters, fried chicken or salmon.
