Armand de Brignac, known everywhere as Ace of Spades, launched in 2006 and is made by the Cattier family, growers in the Montagne de Reims since 1763. Moët Hennessy bought half the brand from Jay-Z in 2021. The rosé followed the Brut Gold in 2008.
The current blend is 55% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier, with 18% still red wine blended in for the color. Half comes from the base harvest and half from two reserve vintages, only first-press juice is used, and the dosage is 8.5 grams per liter. Each bottle is metallized and finished with a pewter label.
The house describes wild strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant, flowers and subtle spice, then red berries, blood orange and ripe cherry with a long finish.
Next to the gold Brut Gold, the rosé has more red fruit and grip; for a dinner centerpiece, choose the rosé.
The house pairs it with tuna crudo, seared duck breast, jamón Ibérico or Wagyu, and says it ages seven to ten years.
