Naken comes from Biokult, a producer in Burgenland, Austria. It's sold as a Pinot Gris, but this is an orange wine, made from white grapes fermented on their skins.
Finch Fine Wines says the 2024 is 90% Pinot Gris and 10% Muskateller from organic grapes, fermented on the skins using traditional red wine methods with low intervention. It's unfiltered, so sediment is normal, and it's sealed with a crown cap. The days on skins aren't published, and one retailer lists the 2024 at 10.5% alcohol.
The producer, quoted by Market View Liquor, describes a delicate orange-rose color, good tannic structure and a creamy body, with tart acidity and bright citrus. The retailer calls it dry and medium-bodied.
Against Borgo Savaian Aransat Orange Wine, Naken is the Austrian option, with a splash of Muskateller and a crown cap; for an easygoing, unfiltered orange wine, choose Naken.
Serve it lightly chilled, and stand the bottle upright before pouring gently to leave the sediment behind. Try it with roast chicken, mezze or spiced vegetable dishes.
