Gulp Hablo Orange comes as a full liter bottle or a four-pack of 250ml cans, an easy introduction to skin-contact white wine.
It's a project of New York importer T. Edward Wines and Bodegas Parra Jiménez in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, with Juan Antonio Ponce consulting. The vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically, and the wine is certified vegan.
Equal parts Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc each spend about a week fermenting on their skins with native yeast. The wine is then pressed, blended and bottled unfined and unfiltered with only a small dose of sulfur, so a light haze is normal.
It drinks bright and juicy. Tangerine peel and citrus zest lead, herbal tea follows, and there's only a light grip of tannin. Choose this when you want orange wine without the funk; pick Gulp Hablo White Verdejo for a straight, crisp white from the same team.
Serve it cool, around 50°F, not fridge-cold. It's good with roast chicken, and the tannin gives it enough structure for spiced lentils or a wedge of manchego.
