S.L.V. is the vineyard behind the 1973 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet that took first place among the reds at the 1976 Judgment of Paris. Warren Winiarski planted it in 1970.
Marchesi Antinori has owned the winery fully since 2023, and Marcus Notaro is the winemaker. The 2021 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, mainly from blocks 1A, 2A, 3A, 3B and Block 4, planted in 1972. Volcanic soils on the vineyard's eastern side add structure. It aged 21 months in all-new French oak. The winery calls 2021 one of the best vintages of the decade.
The winery describes black currant, mocha, olive, fig and a touch of espresso, rich and dense, with a long finish of dark chocolate.
For a piece of Napa history, buy this. For the winery's estate blend at a lower price, choose Artemis.
Wine Spectator gives it until 2040. Decant it for two hours and serve it with a rib roast.
It's also listed with our fine and rare wine, and the rest of our Cabernet Sauvignon is a click away. Pick it up at our Brooklyn store or get same-day delivery across NYC.
