Nickel & Nickel Branding Iron Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 750ml

Nickel & Nickel makes only 100% varietal, single-vineyard wines, and Branding Iron is its Oakville Cabernet from an 8.5-acre vineyard at the base of the Mayacamas.

The winery is part of Far Niente Wine Estates and was co-founded by Gil Nickel. Branding Iron's first vintage was 1998. The older, deep-rooted vines grow in well-drained soils, and warm sun gives a long hang time. The 2022 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14.8% alcohol.

The winery describes black cherry and blackberry with toasty spice and white pepper, soft, silky tannins, and a lifted, spicy floral character with long length.

Decant it for an hour and serve it around 62°F with a strip steak.
