Pol Roger Brut Reserve 750ml

Pol Roger is the family-owned Épernay house behind Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill. It was founded in 1849, and its cellars run 33 meters below the town.

Brut Réserve is the house non-vintage: equal thirds Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay from 30 crus, with 25% reserve wine. Every wine is fermented in steel and goes through malolactic, the bottles are riddled by hand, and the wine spends four years in the cellar before release, then rests at least three months after disgorgement.

The house describes pear, mango, honeysuckle and brioche, then quince, apricot and acacia honey, finishing on candied orange peel and a touch of spice.

Next to Bollinger Special Cuvée, Pol Roger is lighter and more precise; as an aperitif, choose Pol Roger.

The house says it works for a whole meal as well as before one. Serve it well chilled in a white-wine glass.
