Taylor Fladgate Fine Ruby Port 750ml

Fine Ruby is part of the Port range of Taylor Fladgate, the house known in Portugal as Taylor's, whose cellars are in Vila Nova de Gaia.

It's a blend of full-bodied Ports from grapes grown in the Baixo Corgo and Cima Corgo districts of the Douro. Kobrand's US product page lists Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão and Tinta Amarela, fermented in piston fermenters and fortified with grape spirit. Taylor's ages it around two years in large oak vats, then blends for consistency. It's 20% alcohol.

The house describes an intense blackcurrant and cherry nose and a full-bodied, firm palate of black fruit with firm tannins. Kobrand adds cassis, black plum and red-fruit jam.

Against Taylor Port, Fine Ruby is a true Douro Port made from Portuguese grapes; for an authentic ruby Port at a modest price, choose Fine Ruby.

Taylor's says it is ready to drink, needs no decanting and stores upright. Serve it at 61 to 65°F with blue cheese, berries or dark chocolate.
