Robert Mondavi founded Woodbridge in 1979 to make good California wine people could drink every day, and the Cabernet has been one of its biggest sellers ever since. The winery is in Acampo, California, and The Wine Group has owned the brand since June 2025.
It's a California Cabernet Sauvignon aged in a mix of French and American oak. It comes in sizes from a 187ml single serve to the 1.5L, which holds two standard bottles.
The winery describes dark cherry, cedar and a hint of spice on the nose, then blackberry, dark cherry and a little cocoa on a medium-bodied palate, with a touch of toasted oak at the end.
It's the house red for a big table: easy, familiar and inexpensive. If you want more character for a few dollars more, go for something from our wines under $20.
Take the 1.5L out of the fridge about half an hour before pouring; it shows best around 60°F. Woodbridge suggests seared steak or spaghetti marinara.
