Grand Vintage Rosé is Moët & Chandon's vintage pink, made only in declared years. 2013 was a cool year that gave the wine intense texture and acidity.
Moët's tech sheet gives 44% Pinot Noir, including 14% still red wine, 35% Chardonnay and 21% Meunier. It aged seven years in the Épernay cellars and at least six months after disgorgement, and the dosage is a low 5 grams per liter, in Extra Brut territory.
The house describes wild strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate and blood orange with pepper, dark chocolate and leather, then a fleshy palate of plum and cherry with fine tannin and a pink grapefruit finish.
Against the non-vintage Rosé Impérial, the 2013 is drier and more serious; with duck or lamb, choose the vintage.
The red wine gives it light tannin, so it suits food. Serve it around 10°C.
